Learn how to make barbecue wings in your slow cooker using this three ingredient Crockpot BBQ Chicken Wings recipe. Includes a keto and low-carb option.
Sprinkle with the bbq seasoning and use tongs to mix to coat.
Add ⅓ cup bbq sauce and toss the wings to coat.
Cook on high for 2 hours.
Remove the wings from the crockpot (with tongs or a slotted spoon) and add them in a single layer to an aluminum foil lined broiler-safe baking sheet. Brush wings with ⅓ cup of barbecue sauce.
Broil for 2-3 minutes on high to char the wings and crisp the skin.
Broil the BBQ crockpot chicken wings as a final step to crisp and get a tiny bit of char on the skin. I use a baking sheet or pan, but you can also use a wire rack.
Swap the bbq sauce for an infused twist: You can use the sauce in my bbq Hennessy wings for a richer flavor.
Cook on high for 2-3 hours or the lowest setting for 3-4 hours. My personal preference is to cook on high for 2 hours, but you have about an hour "grace period" if you forget or need to leave them in the slow cooker for a little bit longer.
Skip the cooking liquid: though it might be tempting to add things like chicken broth, slow cooker chicken wings produce their own juice. The combination of the chicken juices and the the steam from slow cooking, keep the wings tender.
