This keto berry smoothie recipe is thick, frosty, and full of mixed berry flavor. Frozen berries and ice give it a creamy texture, while vanilla collagen adds protein and a little extra body.

It works well for a quick breakfast, snack, or easy drink on the go. For another fruity option, try my Keto Strawberry Smoothie, or top this one with homemade whipped cream when you want something more dessert-like.

Why You’ll Love This Keto Berry Smoothie

  • Thick and frosty: Frozen berries and ice create a cold, creamy texture.
  • Quick to make: Everything goes into the blender at once.
  • Easy to customize: Use a frozen mixed berry blend or your favorite combination of berries.
  • Adjustable sweetness: Start with less sweetener, then add more after blending if needed.

Ingredients Needed

  • Mixed berries: Buy frozen berries for the thickest, frostiest smoothie. A mixed berry blend works well, or choose your own combination of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries.
  • Ice: Regular ice cubes work well. If your blender struggles with ice, smaller cubes may blend more easily.
  • Vanilla collagen: Adds protein, a little extra body, and vanilla flavor. Unflavored collagen also works if that’s what you already have.
  • Powdered sweetener: A powdered sugar substitute blends more smoothly into a cold drink than a granulated one. You can always add more after blending.
  • Unsweetened vanilla coconut milk: Use the refrigerated drinking variety rather than canned coconut milk. Unsweetened vanilla keeps the smoothie creamy without making it overly sweet.

How to Make a Keto Berry Smoothie

Add everything to the blender

Add the smoothie ingredients to a high-speed blender. If your blender tends to struggle with frozen ingredients, add the coconut milk first.

Blend until thick and smooth

Blend until the berries and ice are completely broken down and the smoothie looks creamy with no icy chunks remaining. Add a small splash of coconut milk only if needed to help it blend.

Tips for the Best Berry Smoothie

  • Use frozen berries: They help create a thicker texture without watering down the berry flavor.
  • Add liquid slowly: Too much coconut milk can make the smoothie thin. Add more only if your blender needs help.
  • Taste before adding more sweetener: Berry sweetness varies, so it’s easier to add more than to fix an overly sweet smoothie.
  • Use a high-speed blender: Frozen berries and ice blend more smoothly with a powerful blender.
  • Serve right away: The smoothie is thickest and frostiest immediately after blending.

Berry Options & Variations

You don’t need a specific frozen berry blend for this recipe. Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries all work, so use the combination you like best. You can also swap vanilla collagen for unflavored collagen. Since you’ll lose some of the vanilla flavor, add a little vanilla extract and adjust the sweetener to taste if needed.

Can I Use Fresh Berries?

Yes, but frozen berries work better for this recipe because they help create the thick, frosty texture. If you use fresh berries, you may need extra ice or slightly less coconut milk to get a similar consistency.

How Do I Make My Berry Smoothie Thicker?

Start with frozen berries and avoid adding extra liquid unless your blender needs it. If you want an even frostier texture, add a little more ice and blend again.

Can I Make This Smoothie Without Collagen?

Yes. The smoothie may be slightly less thick and won’t have the same vanilla flavor, but it will still work. Add vanilla extract and adjust the sweetener to taste if needed.
