This Graham Cracker Pie Crust is buttery, lightly sweet, and crisp enough to hold a creamy filling without crumbling apart. It comes together with a few simple ingredients and skips the rolling and shaping of a traditional pie crust.

Bake it for a firmer, toasted crust or chill it for a no-bake dessert. I especially like it for Pumpkin Pie with Graham Cracker Crust and Sweet Potato Pie with Graham Cracker Crust. Why Make This?
- Easy homemade crust: No rolling or shaping. Just mix, press, then bake or chill.
- Holds together well: Fine crumbs and the right packing technique help you get clean slices.
- Works for different desserts: Use it for baked pies, cheesecakes, cream pies, and no-bake desserts.

Ingredients You’ll Need
Grab the exact amounts from the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
- Honey graham crackers: Use 10–12 full cracker sheets, or 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs. Fine crumbs make the crust easier to pack evenly.
- Granulated sugar: Adds sweetness to the crust.
- Salted butter: Melt it before mixing so it evenly coats the crumbs.
- Vanilla extract: Adds a little extra flavor.
- Ground cinnamon: Adds warm spice. For pumpkin desserts, you can swap it for my Pumpkin Pie Spice.
How to Make Graham Cracker Pie Crust
Use the step-by-step photos as a guide. The main things to watch are the crumb texture and how firmly you pack the crust.
Make Fine Crumbs
Blend or process the graham crackers until the crumbs are fine and even. You can also crush them in a zip-top bag. Finer crumbs make it easier to get a crust that holds together when sliced.

Look for a Wet-Sand Texture
Once everything is mixed, the crumbs should be evenly moistened and clump together when pressed. If you still see dry patches, keep mixing before adding the crust to the pie plate.

Press It Evenly
Spread the crumbs out before compacting them so the bottom and sides stay about the same thickness. I like using a flat-bottom measuring cup because it makes this much easier.

Let the Crust Set
Whether you bake or chill it depends on the dessert you’re making. Either way, give the crust time to firm up before adding the filling so it holds its shape better.
Tips for the Best Graham Cracker Crust
- Let the crust set before filling: Give a baked crust time to cool completely, or let a chilled crust firm up before adding the filling.
- Use fine crumbs: Finer graham cracker crumbs pack together more evenly and help the crust hold its shape when sliced.
- Mix until evenly moistened: Make sure there are no dry pockets of crumbs before pressing the crust into the pie plate.
- Spread before pressing: Distribute the crumbs across the bottom and sides first so you don’t end up with a thick bottom and thin edges.
- Use a flat-bottom measuring cup: It makes it easier to get an even, compact crust.
- Don’t press too hard: The crumbs should be firmly packed, but overpacking can make the finished crust dense and hard to cut.

Swaps & Variations
- Prepared graham cracker crumbs: Use 1½ cups to skip crushing the crackers yourself.
- Pumpkin Pie Spice: Use my Pumpkin Pie Spice instead of cinnamon when making a pumpkin pie or another pumpkin dessert.
- No cinnamon: Leave it out for a more neutral crust that works with almost any filling.

- Filled pies: Follow the storage instructions for the filling you use.
FAQs
Not always. Pre-baking gives the crust a firmer texture and more toasted flavor. For a no-bake dessert, you can chill it until firm instead. If the filling will also be baked, follow that specific recipe.
Use finely crushed graham crackers, coat the crumbs evenly with butter, and press the mixture firmly into the pie plate. Baking or thoroughly chilling the crust before filling also helps it set.
It may have been packed too tightly. Press the crumbs firmly enough to hold together without applying excessive pressure.
Yes. Use 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs in place of 10–12 full cracker sheets.
No. Chill the crust until firm before adding the filling. Baking is optional, but it gives the crust a firmer, more toasted texture.

Ingredients
- 10 Honey Graham Crackers, about 10-12 full cracker sheets, or 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 6 tbsp butter, salted and melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon, or ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice for pumpkin pie with graham cracker crust
Instructions
- Preheat the oven (optional): If baking the crust, preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Make fine graham cracker crumbs: add the graham crackers to a food processor. Pulse the graham cracker pieces in a food processor until finely ground for the best texture.
- Add the pie crust ingredients to a bowl
- Mix the ingredients to look like wet sand: In a medium bowl, stir together the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, cinnamon (or pumpkin pie spice), melted butter, and vanilla until all of the crumbs are evenly moistened. The mixture should resemble wet sand.
- Press firmly into a 9-inch pie plate: Pour the crumb mixture into a 9-inch pie plate. Use the bottom of a measuring cup or glass to firmly press the crumbs into an even layer across the bottom and up the sides of the pan. A flat-bottom measuring cup helps create a compact crust that slices cleanly.
- Follow your recipe's instructions for determining the next step. For a no-bake dessert: Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until lightly golden and fragrant. Let the crust cool completely before filling. You can also skip baking and refrigerate the crust for at least 1 hour, or freeze it for 20–30 minutes, before adding the filling. For a baked dessert (ex: my pumpkin pie with graham cracker crust): I do not pre-bake the crust. I just add the filling to the crust after it's been pressed in the pie plate and bake it with the filling.
