21 Low Carb Frozen Meals Recipes for Meal Prep

These low carb frozen meals are a great tool for staying on track. They can be used as part of meal prep – a strategy that helps prepare anyone for the various challenges one might face while trying to live more healthfully. In this post, I share 21 of the best recipes for keto meals that freeze well & a few low-carb freezer meals that you can buy at the store.

Why make low carb frozen meals?

Sticking to a ketogenic eating plan can be a real challenge. No matter how much you enjoy the keto diet, there always comes a day when temptation strikes. Maybe the kids stayed too late after school, or you had to work a double shift. But suddenly, you’re hungry and grabbing a fast-food sandwich would be so easy – unless you are prepared.

Low carb frozen meals are one of the best ways to be prepared. When you plan your menus with a nice assortment of freezer meals, it’s easier to stay on track – and you save money, too! Don’t believe it? Give some of these a try!

How to make keto freezer meals?

Making keto freezer meals is easy.

Simply cook your food as you usually do, allow it to cool, and then store in a freezer-safe container like these.

One great way to make low carb frozen meals at home is to simply cook double batches of your meals and freeze half of the food you make.

However, keep in mind that not all foods are freezer friendly. So, I tend to stick to roasts, Italian-style low carb dishes, and things like keto casseroles and bakes. For me, the sauce, fats, and cooking liquids allow you to reheat the food without it drying out. 

Can you buy low carb frozen meals?

Yes, but not all low carb frozen meals are keto-friendly

This post includes recipes that you can make ahead. But, if you’re looking for keto frozen meals to buy at the store, then you should know that there are limited options.

Most of the frozen meal options are low carb. These meals that they usually have about 20g net carbs per meal.  Since most people following keto have 20g net carbs per day, this makes buying keto freezer meals a bit challenging.

Besides, the carb count, if you look at the labels, you’ll also notice that many low carb frozen meals are packed with long lists of ingredients. So, if you’re “strict keto”, you might want to avoid these. 

Keto-friendly frozen meal options at the store are mostly from pizza brands

Of the keto-friendly options, I’ve noticed that most of them are pizza or made by companies whose main product is keto pizza.

One product line that is available online and at Walmart is Real Good Foods. This brand has Pizza, enchiladas, breakfast sandwiches, and new Italian-style entrees.

All of their products are made of real food ingredients and do not have added sugar.

Another ready-made option is the new frozen pizza line from Cali’flour Foods. These pizzas have cauliflower crusts.

My absolute favorite is the Artisan Margherita. One tip when making them though: I find that I need to cook them longer than suggested so just keep an eye on them. I only take mine out of the own when the edges have fully browned.

Crustless Pizza Casserole – Dr. Davinah’s Eats

This is one of my favorite keto casserole recipes. Perfect for those who love pizza, but want to turn it into a low-carb dinner. Like so many of the included dishes, it uses just a few ingredients and requires minimal prep. 

Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker Roast – Dr. Davinah’s Eats

This easy roast is one of my favorite meals to freeze. Just add portions of the meat and a few ladles of the cooking liquid to a freezer-safe bowl or bag before freezing. When ready, warm the meat and pair it with my cauliflower rice risotto.

I don’t know about you, but I can never get enough meatballs, These Keto Italian Sausage Meatballs are made with one pot in 30 minutes with ingredients that you can easily pick up at the store.

My Baked Mexican Frittata is enjoyable for every meal, but it’s really perfect for brunch. It also freezes well, so whip up a double batch for a handy meal some night when you’re too busy to cook.
