These Air Fryer Roasted Chicken Wings have browned, crisp skin and juicy meat with simple herb seasoning. They’re a good middle ground when you want wings that are crisper than baked, but with more of a roasted finish than my air fryer fried chicken wings.

I make these for an easy chicken dinner when I don’t want to add breading or sauce. Serve them with Garlic Butter Rice, Mashed Potatoes with Cheese, or Glazed Carrots to round out the meal.
Why Make Roasted Chicken Wings in the Air Fryer
- Crisper than baked wings: The circulating hot air helps the skin brown and crisp while keeping the finished wings more roasted than fried-style.
- Just four ingredients: You only need chicken wings, oil, herb seasoning, and salt.
- No breading or sauce required: Season the wings and cook them right away for a simple roasted chicken flavor.

Ingredients Needed
- Chicken wings: Use fresh or fully thawed raw chicken wings separated into flats and drumettes. Pat them dry before seasoning so the skin browns more easily.
- Avocado oil: A light coating helps the seasoning stick and encourages browning. Olive oil also works.
- Salt-free herb seasoning: I use a blend with garlic, rosemary, thyme, lemon peel, sage, and other dried herbs for an easy roasted chicken flavor. You can also change the flavor with my Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning or Poultry Seasoning.
- Sea salt: Fine sea salt distributes evenly over the wings. Reduce or omit it if you use a seasoning blend that already contains salt.
How to Roast Chicken Wings in an Air Fryer
Season the wings
Pat the wings dry, then coat them with the oil, herb seasoning, and sea salt. They should be lightly and evenly coated rather than sitting in excess oil.
Arrange them in one layer
Place the wings in the air fryer basket with a little room between them. Cook in batches if needed so hot air can move around each piece.
Flip and finish
Flip the wings halfway through cooking. Continue air frying until the skin is browned and crisp around the edges and the chicken is cooked through.

Tips for a Roasted, Crisp Finish
- Use a light coat of oil: You need enough to help the wings brown, but they should not look greasy.
- Watch the color: Wing size varies, so use the browned skin as another cue rather than relying only on the timer.
- Check smaller pieces first: Flats and smaller drumettes may be ready before the largest pieces.
How Long to Roast Chicken Wings in an Air Fryer
Chicken wings generally take about 24–30 minutes at 400°F in the air fryer. The exact cooking time depends on the size of the wings and how browned you want the skin.
Flip them halfway through and start checking smaller pieces toward the beginning of the range.
What to Serve With Air Fryer Roasted Chicken Wings
These wings work just as well as the main protein for dinner as they do on an appetizer spread.
For an easy dinner, add a vegetable like Green Beans with Bacon or Air Fryer Frozen Broccoli. For something more classic with wings, make Homemade French Fries in the Air Fryer.
If you’re serving the wings as an appetizer, add Blue Cheese Dressing or Ranch Dressing for dipping. You can also make an appetizer spread for a crowd by adding my BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders, Shredded Chicken Nachos, or Philly Cheesesteak Pizza.

Recipe Notes
- Dry the wings: Pat them well before seasoning to help the skin brown and crisp.
- Give them room: Arrange the wings in a single layer and cook in batches if needed.
- Flip halfway: Cook for 24–30 minutes at 400°F, flipping halfway and checking smaller pieces first.
- Seasoning options: Replace the herb seasoning and sea salt with my Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning or Poultry Seasoning. Both already contain salt, so omit the additional sea salt in this recipe.
