This easy Oven Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings recipe is the perfect alternative to my popular Garlic Parmesan Wings when you have a small air fryer or are cooking for a large family, meal prep or crowd. This version starts with my crispy baked wings. Then, I top them with the same super easy garlic parmesan sauce. Enjoy these with a side Caesar salad, one of these air fryer vegetable recipes, or another side dish to make them a meal.

Why Make This
- Tastes better than takeout: my original garlic parmesan wings recipe became popular because it tastes better than takeout. The baked version is just as great, giving you flavor as well as savings!
- Option for a large family, meal prep or crowd: one of the benefits of baking garlic parmesan chicken wings in the oven is that you have more space. This allows you to double the recipe without having to cook in batches.
Ingredients Needed
Oven Fried Wings
- Chicken Wings: I buy these sectioned into flats and drums, but you can use drumettes, and whole wings too!
- Natural Ancient Sea Salt: I‘m using fine sea salt. This is optional. You can make the wings without it and add salt to the sauce or use salted butter if you’d like more options to adjust the salt to your tastes
- Black Pepper
- Smoked Paprika
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Baking Powder: this allows the chicken wings to become crispy like fried chicken. While you can make this recipe without it, the chicken wings will not be crispy and be similar to regular baked wings.
- Olive oil: Adding a little bit of oil helps to jumpstart the crisping process.
Garlic Parmesan Sauce
- Butter: I use melted and unsalted butter
- Grated Parmesan: I get this fresh from the refrigerated section of the market. It looks like powder. The fresh version is best because it is less processed and doesn’t taste as salty.
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Powder
- Dried Parsley
- Black Pepper

How to Bake Garlic Parmesan Wings in the Oven
- Prepare the chicken wings: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Remove the chicken wing parts from the refrigerator and pat dry. Mix the spices and baking powder in a small dish or ramekin. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture on the wings and toss the wings to coat.
- Bake the wings until crisp: Place wings on a parchment-paper lined baking sheet or a baking sheet with a cooling rack. Cook the wings in the oven for 20-25 minutes per side. The longer the crispier.
- Mix the sauce: add all of the sauce ingredients to a bowl and mix
- Toss the wings to coat: remove the hot wings from the oven and add them to a bowl with the sauce.

Top Tips & FAQs
- Use all of the baking powder spice mix: this baking powder spice mix gives these baked garlic parmesan chicken wings flavor and helps to crisp the wing skin. So, you all of it and really toss your chicken wings in it to coat.
- Pat the wings dry: removing as much moisture as possible before coating the wings in the spice mix also helps to have a crispy wing skin
- Add the sauce to hot chicken wings: I add the sauce to the wings while they are hot. This allows the sauce to really stick to the wings.
You can bake wings for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees. However, for crispy wings, I prefer to turn the heat up to 425 degrees.
I do not bake chicken wings at 350 degrees because that temperature is not high enough to fully brown or even crisp the skin.
No. I do not boil my chicken wings before baking them.
This depends on your goals. In this recipe, I’m baking my garlic parmesan wings in the oven because I’d prefer to have crispy wings that aren’t deep-fried in oil or breaded.
