Recipe Tips & FAQs
- You can use my keto brown sugar rub, sauce, and a low carb bun for keto or low-carb options.
- Score the hot dogs: Use a knife to lightly score the hot dogs. Scoring helps them to cook evenly without losing their juices.
- Add your bbq sauce later in the cooking to prevent it from burning.
- Use parchment paper or aluminum foil: an easy way to reduce clean up time is to place parchment paper on the bottom of the air fryer basket before you start cooking bacon wrapped hot dogs. If you have an air fryer oven, you can use put the baking sheet that comes with your air fryer tray to catch any drippings.
- Use thin cut bacon: For me, thinly-sliced bacon is the best bacon since it is easier to crisp. If you want to use thick cut bacon, I recommend that you pre-cook it for about 5 minutes like I do in my bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers.
- For additional crispy textures and to take the crunch factor to the next level, a great option is to eat these hotdogs with toasted buns.
Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog Toppings
Besides your favorite toppings, some options are:
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Sauerkraut
- Barbecue sauce
- Diced raw onions
- Pickles
How to Store Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs
The best way to store any leftover hot dogs is in an airtight container for the next day (up to 3-4 days).
Use toothpicks to secure the bacon to the hot dog.
When making air fryer bacon-wrapped hotdogs, flip them after the first 6 minutes, then air fry them for another 6 minutes to crisp. Depending on the thickness of your bacon, you can also pre-cook the bacon for 5-6 minutes.
It takes about 20–30 minutes.
