I love to make my own salad dressings, and this Keto Ranch Dressing recipe is no exception! Using just a few ingredients, including my homemade ranch seasoning, this is a quick and easy way to have all of the ranch flavor without giving up control of the ingredients.
Why Make Keto Ranch Dressing?
Whether you are following a specific lifestyle or have allergies, dressings are one way that companies sneak in tricky ingredients such as gluten, MSG, preservatives, and of course – sugar!
As I mentioned in my blue cheese dressing post, these ingredients are needed in store-bought dressings to help them last forever without refrigeration. By making your own, you can control the ingredients and get maximum flavor!
Besides controlling all of the ingredients, it’s also super easy to make. You literally just mix the spice mix with your dairy of choice.
Ingredients in Homemade Ranch Dressing
This recipe has less than a handful of ingredients. You’ll need:
- mayo
- sour cream
- lemon juice
- Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix
Once you’ve gathered those, you can head to the recipe card for the exact amounts.
How to Make Ranch Dressing at Home
Once you have your seasoning mix in a jar on your spice rack, it really is easy to make yourself ranch dip or dressing whenever you please. You simply add all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix it.
I love to use mayo and sour cream because it really gives me the tang that I like. The acid in the lemon juice brightens things up as well.
Depending on your diet and allergies, you might also use plain Greek yogurt in place of the sour cream. To cut down on carbs, be sure to use full-fat Greek Yogurt as I did in my new york strip steak recipe.
Thick vs. Thin Dressing
If you whip this up and would like to thin it out more, simply add in one tablespoon of unsweetened almond milk or heavy cream until you reach your desired consistency. This makes it perfect to toss into your salad greens or dip your raw veggies in.
You may prefer it thicker to sit on a bowl of soup or even spread it on top of chicken breasts as a wonderful marinade before popping it into the oven. I wrote the recipe to be fairly thick but you can always thin it out using the tips above.
Storing Keto Ranch Dressing
Grab your favorite mason jar or small glass container after you mix this up in a bowl. You can store it in the fridge in an air-tight container for up to 5 days (but it likely won’t last that long!).
