If you enjoy making steak in your air fryer, then you’ll love these Juicy Air Fryer Garlic Butter Steak Bites. They’re basically chunks of boneless steak that are seasoned to perfection with a full flavor steak blend and tossed in my homemade compound garlic butter. These are ready in as little as 8 minutes. They can be enjoyed with my air fried green beans, Ninja Foodi asparagus, mushroom cauliflower rice risotto or any of these keto sides for steak for an easy meal.
Why Make This
- Quick & easy: these Garlic Butter Steak Bites take as little as 8 minutes in the Ninja Foodi and really only require you to season them and flip once.
- Few ingredients: this dish requires a steak seasoning blend, some oil for the air fryer, and my homemade garlic butter.
Ingredients Needed
- Boneless Steak: I’ve made this recipe with boneless ribeye, boneless sirloin or boneless new york strip steak. I used a 1-inch thick steak and cut it into bite-sized chunks.
- Garlic Butter: this compound butter takes five minutes and is a great base for so many garlic butter recipes like my Cajun shrimp, air fryer garlic butter chicken thighs, and air fryer surf & turf.
- Steak Seasoning: You can use any steak seasoning that you wish, but I personally recommend this one for all types of meats and even vegetables.
- Avocado Oil: I’m using avocado oil to help the spices stick and encourage browning as the steak bites cook in the air fryer.
How to Make Garlic Butter Steak Bites in an Air Fryer
- Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes on 400 degrees. Meanwhile, add the steak bites, oil and steak seasoning to a bowl. Toss to coat.
- Add the steak bites to the hot cooking pot – be sure that they are flat and there is space for the air to circulate. Top the steak bites with the garlic butter.
- Air fry at 400 degrees for 6 min.
- Use a spoon to stir the bites in the garlic butter and air fry at 400 degrees for 2-4 more minutes.
Top Cooking Tips & FAQs
- Take the steak out before cooking: allowing your steak to sit at room temp for about 30 min before cooking helps it to cook more evenly in the air fryer
- Trim the fat for the best “sear”: as mentioned in my Ninja Foodi steak post, you get the best sear on steak in a cast iron skillet. So, to be able to get a sear in the air fryer, you should trim some of the fat. This allows the air fryer to brown and crisp the fat without too much work.
- Cook in a flat layer: allow the steak to have some space in the air fryer cooking pot. Make sure that they are in a flat layer.
Steak Bites take less time compared to a full steak in the air fryer. You need at least 8 minutes for steak bites and at least 12 minutes to cook a whole steak in the air fryer. The cooking times, however, depend on how thick your steak is and how well you’d like your steak done.
Yes. You can use a New York strip steak in this recipe.
It took me 8 minutes to air fryer steak bites. A one-inch whole steak takes about 12 minutes for medium in the air fryer.
Butter is not recommended for long duration, high-heat cooking in an air fryer. I’m using butter in this recipe because it cooks quickly.
