Ingredients Needed
Here’s what you need to know about the ingredients for this oven baked chicken thighs recipe.:
- Chicken thighs: I’m using raw, skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs
- Cajun seasoning: This typically includes salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and more. You can use my cajun homemade seasoning recipe or your favorite one from grocery stores.
- Butter: I’m using salted butter that I melted. If you’re using cajun seasoning from the store, you can use unsalted butter. You can always add more salt at the end, but you can’t remove it from a dish.
- Garlic Cloves: I prefer fresh garlic since it has a bolder flavor, but it’s about 1 tbsp of the minced garlic you can get in a jar.
- Lemon: Juiced

Recipe Tips & FAQs
Broil the chicken
I recommend that broil the chicken on high for 2-3 minutes to brown the top of the chicken and crisp the skin. The extra cooking time is worth the added flavor and results
How to Store Oven Baked Chicken Thighs
If you have any leftover chicken from this recipe, the best way to store it is in an airtight container for 3-4 days.

No need to cover the chicken thighs in this recipe since they have the skin-on. Keeping the pan open helps to brown the chicken skin and make it crispy.
An oven temperature that’s a little over 400 degrees will brown the chicken and crisp the chicken better. Since I prefer crispy baked chicken thighs, I preheat the oven to 425 degrees for the best results.
Both methods deliver crispy chicken thighs and delicious results. However, this baked bone-in chicken thighs recipe will do if you’re looking for an easy and non-greasy method.
Bone-in chicken thighs will take about 10 extra minutes to cook compared to boneless chicken thighs.
