These crockpot turkey wings are so tender that they might fall off the bone. They’re full of flavor, incredibly juicy, and so easy to make.

Everybody loves wings. They’re just a universally adored food, and for good reason. But chicken wings aren’t the only kind of delicious wing, and these crockpot turkey wings have quickly become one of my favorite recipes. And I’m pretty sure they’ll become one of your favorites, too.

These turkey wings have everything you love about chicken wings. They’re crispy on the outside, but are juicy and succulent on the inside. They’re hearty and savory, and packed with your favorite seasonings. The only real difference is they’re a lot bigger, and they have that unique turkey flavor that works so well with the spices in this recipe.

The flavors in these crockpot turkey wings will blow you away, but not as much as the easiness of the recipe. It’s such a simple meal to make, even though the flavors are complex. You’ve got to give it a try.

Why You’ll Love This Easy Slow Cooker Turkey

Here are some of the many reasons why you’ve go to try making this hassle-free turkey recipe.

  • So tender. The turkey in this recipe is guaranteed to be perfectly cooked every single time. It’s juicy and tender, and will melt in your mouth. Turkey can become dry and tough very easily, but not in this recipe.
  • Easy. I love to use my crockpot, because I love making flavorful meals so easily. A crockpot gives you all the flavor of spending hours in the kitchen, with virtually none of the effort. Even though this recipe is bursting with flavor, it barely requires any work.
  • Healthy. These slow cooker turkey wings taste like comfort food, but they’re actually quite healthy. All this recipe has in it is turkey, chicken broth, a few veggies, and lots of seasonings. It’s very good for you!

Ingredients Needed

Here are all the ingredients that you’ll need if you want to make these slow cooker turkey wings. Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the page to see the specific quantities for each ingredient.

  • Turkey wings – You want the wings cut into flats and drums, and the wing tips cut off.
  • 24 herb seasoning
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Smoked paprika
  • Sea salt
  • Olive oil – Avocado oil works fine as well.
  • Chicken broth paste – You can use your favorite bouillon if you prefer.
  • Water – to mix with the chicken broth paste
  • Onions – I like to use yellow onions for this recipe, but white or red onions will also work.
  • Bell peppers – Green bell peppers are my favorite for this turkey dish.
  • Xanthan gum – This will help thicken the gravy.

How to Make Crockpot Turkey Wings

Here’s how to make these super simple, melt-in-your-mouth wings.

  • Make the spice rub. Mix all of the spices together in a bowl.
  • Add the meat, veggies, and seasonings to the crockpot. Put the turkey, onions, bell peppers, oil, and spice blend in the crockpot. Toss until the wings are coated with the seasoning.
  • Pour in the broth. Mix the chicken broth paste with the water to make stock, then pour it into the crockpot.
  • Cook. Cook the turkey wings on high for 3.5-4 hours, or on low for 7-8 hours.
  • Broil. Remove the turkey from the crockpot and place it under a broiler until the skin is brown. This should take 3-5 minutes.
  • Make the gravy. Add the xanthan gum to the crockpot and whisk to combine. Cook on high until the gravy thickens, which should take about 10 minutes.
  • Put the wings back in. Add the wings back to the crockpot, and serve.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few of my favorite tips for making this juicy turkey wing recipe.

  • Have the butcher prepare them. You want the wing tips cut off of your turkey wings, and you want the wings portioned into flats and drums. If you want, you can do this at home with a knife. The process is similar to how to cut chicken wings. But you’ll save time if you simply ask the butcher to do it for you when you buy the wings.
  • Adjust the seasoning. After you’re finished making the gravy, taste it and adjust the seasoning. It may need a little bit more salt or some more spices. Make the gravy exactly the way you like it before returning the turkey to the crockpot.
  • Add heat. This recipe has so many spices and seasonings, but it doesn’t have much heat. If you want your turkey to be spicy, then add some chili powder or fresh chilies.

Serving Suggestions

My favorite way to serve these healthy wings is to put them on top of Buttery Cauliflower Rice Pilaf. They also go really well with some veggie sides. These are some of my favorites for serving with turkey wings.

  • Air Fryer Frozen Brussels Sprouts
  • Easy Air Fryer Green Beans
  • Air Fryer Mushrooms
  • Air Fryer Butternut Squash
  • Crockpot Collard Greens

How to Store and Reheat Leftovers

You can keep leftover turkey wings in the fridge for up to 4 days, as long as you store them in an airtight container. Reheat in a 350F oven for 10 minutes.

Can I Freeze This Dish?

Absolutely! Place leftover wings in an airtight container and put them in the freezer for 3 months. Make sure you fully thaw or defrost them before reheating.

More Healthy Slow Cooker Recipes

I love to use my slow cooker. You can get so much flavor for so little effort, often with really healthy dishes. Here are a few more for you to make.

  • Crockpot Chicken Leg Quarters
  • Crockpot BBQ Chicken Thighs
  • Crockpot Turkey Tenderloin
  • Easy Crockpot Cabbage
  • Crockpot Fresh Green Beans with Bacon

You can also make this crockpot pepper steak. Like the gravy in this recipe, you can use Xanthan Gum as to cornstarch as well as your favorite low carb honey if you’d like.

Ingredients

  • 2.5 lbs turkey wings, cut into drums and flats, with the wing tip discarded
  • 1 tbsp 24 herb seasoning
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1.5 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, or avocado oil
  • 2 tsp chicken broth paste
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 cup onions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers, sliced
  • 1/4 tsp xanthan gum, for gravy or use these substitutes for xanthum gum

Instructions

  • Mix the spices together in a small bowl.
  • Add the peppers, onions, and turkey wings to the bottom of the crockpot with the mixed spices and oil. Toss the wings to coat.
  • Mix the broth paste and water together. Pour it over the wings and vegetables.
  • Cook 3.5-4 hours on high or 7-8 hours on low. Larger wings will need the higher end of the range.
  • Remove the wings from the crockpot and add to a wire rack or foil-lined baking sheet.
  • Broil for 3-5 minutes to brown the skin. Allow the meat to rest.
  • While the meat rests, whisk the xanthan gum in the cooking liquid that's at the bottom of the crockpot. Cook on high for about 10 minutes until the gravy starts to thicken. Turn off the heat.
  • Return the browned wings back to the pot with the gravy.
  • Serve the browned wings and gravy over steamed cauliflower rice or cauliflower rice pilaf.

Recipe Notes

  • To make things easier, ask your butcher to cut the turkey wings into flats and drums.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 4 days, or in the freezer for 3 months.
  • Reheat in a 350F oven for 10 minutes.
