This easy Air Fryer Frozen Turkey Burgers tutorial will give you all the tips and cook times to learn how to cook frozen turkey burger patties in your air fryer. Enjoy these burgers with or without cheese. Keep it low-carb or keto by using a lettuce bun or low-carb bun and by pairing these with any of my keto side dishes for burgers.
Why Air Fry Frozen Turkey Burger Patties
- Cooks from frozen: almost all of us have forgotten to thaw something for dinner. Fortunately, with an air fryer, that doesn’t need to mean take-out. You can cook many frozen foods in an air fryer, including a juicy burger. Add this great option to your list of air fryer recipes.
- Simple recipe & ready in minutes: With this easy recipe and simple steps, you can use almost any seasoning and have a flavorful, delicious burger in a cooking time of fewer than 15 minutes. This recipe will give you an easy meal with great flavor.
- A healthier alternative: Turkey burgers, which are typically made from lean ground turkey, are a great way to have a healthy meal, compared to traditional hamburgers (beef burgers). Additionally, veggie burgers and chicken burgers are also great ideas for healthy alternatives, if that’s what you are looking for.
Ingredients Needed
- Frozen turkey burgers: you should not and do not need to thaw these frozen turkey patties. You can get frozen patties from the grocery store like Trader Joe’s turkey burgers. I get minimally processed, uncooked turkey burgers where there are usually one or two ingredients.
- Seasoning: you can use any complete spice mix (which may include garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and more) to add flavor to these frozen turkey burgers. Some of my favorites are chicken dry rub and steak seasoning.
- Cheese: this is optional. I prefer American cheese that you can pick up packaged as singles or sliced from the deli
- Avocado Oil Spray or olive oil spray: this helps the spices stick to the turkey burgers and keep the burgers from sticking.
Burger Toppings
For me, burgers are all about the toppings. Some of my favorite burger toppings are:
- Lettuce – you can use this as a bun or topping. Iceberg lettuce makes a great lettuce bun, but I also enjoy butter lettuce.
- Air Fryer Turkey Bacon
- Sliced Tomatoes
- Sliced Red Onions
- Pickles
- Avocado or Guacamole
- Fried Egg
- Ketchup or BBQ Sauce
You can get the full list of ingredient amounts and instructions from the full recipe card at the end of the post.
How to Make Frozen Turkey Burgers in an Air Fryer
Use these easy steps to make frozen turkey burgers in your air fryer without thawing them out.
- Take the frozen burgers out of the freezer when you’re ready to cook. Preheat your air fryer.
- Spray both sides of the burgers with oil spray (or non-stick cooking spray). Sprinkle the seasoning on the burgers and spread it evenly on both sides
- Place patties (burgers) in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry at 400 degrees for 6 minutes. Flip the burgers and air fry at 400 degrees for 5 minutes
- Add a slice of cheese to each burger and continue air frying at 400 degrees for 30 seconds to 1 minute to melt the cheese.
Top Tips & FAQs
- Save time with parchment paper in your air fryer: Have an easier clean-up and juicier result by adding a parchment paper liner in the bottom of the cooking basket. Using parchment paper that doesn’t have holes helps the burgers cook in their own juice as they melt.
- Use any complete seasoning mix: As mentioned above, some of my favorites for this recipe are chicken dry rub and steak seasoning. Complete seasoning mixes include a range of spices and are meant to be enjoyed as is.
How to store juicy turkey burgers
If you have any leftover juicy air fryer turkey burgers, the best way to store them is in an airtight container for the next day (up to 5 days). You can also wrap them up tight in aluminum foil.
A frozen turkey burger cooks in about 12 minutes in the air fryer.
This tutorial recommends 400 degrees. Increase the cook time for lower temperature.
You can use a meat thermometer to check the temperature. Turkey is considered safe to eat once it reaches 165 degrees.
