This four-ingredient Air Fryer Frozen Brussels Sprouts recipe is the perfect addition to any budget-friendly keto meal. It uses packaged frozen Brussels sprouts, oil, salt, and pepper. Why Make This
- Cooks from frozen: no need to thaw out your frozen Brussels sprouts before making them in the air fryer.
- Cheaper alternative compared to fresh: when you’re doing keto on a budget, you need a variety of options to make cheap keto meals. Compared to fresh air fryer Brussels sprouts, making frozen sprouts in the air fryer is a more budget-friendly option.
Ingredients Needed
- Frozen Brussels Sprouts: I got these from the frozen foods section in the market. Do not thaw them before cooking
- Sea Salt: I am using fine grain sea salt.
- Black Pepper
- Avocado oil or another oil for air frying
How to Make Air Fryer Frozen Brussels Sprouts
- Add the frozen Brussels sprouts, oil, salt and pepper to a bowl and toss to combine.
- Place the Brussels sprouts in an even layer in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry on 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
- Flip and continue air frying on 400 degrees for 3-7 more minutes.
Top Tips & FAQs
- Adjust the cook time for your desired doneness: you can start checking these for doneness at 12 minutes. You can keep them in your air fryer until they are done enough for you.
- Toss frequently for even browning: though it is optional, you should toss these every 5 minutes to brown them evenly. I often don’t do this and just allow one side to be more charred looking than the other.
Yes. I’ve personally tried making frozen green beans, Brussels sprouts, and frozen broccoli in the air fryer.
No. You should not thaw frozen vegetables before cooking them. In fact, most frozen vegetable packaging has ”do not thaw” in bold.
Most frozen vegetables, including frozen Brussels sprouts, are blanched before they are frozen. For me, this meant that they weren’t bitter. For fresh Brussels sprouts, you can get rid of the bitterness by cutting slits in the center.
