This easy recipe comes together in about 40 minutes of cooking.

Ingredients Needed
- Pork Baby Back Ribs: I’m using one large rack of pork baby back ribs. They come raw, vacuum sealed and aren’t pre-brined.
- BBQ Seasoning: I’m using my homemade bbq seasoning (which includes black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and more) as a pork dry rub. It’s sweet, smoky and mildly spicy. Feel free to cut down on the cayenne pepper if you want a less spicy version.
- BBQ Sauce: If you’re focused on keto and low-carb options, use my keto bbq sauce recipe. But if not, you can use any hickory, Kansas-city style bbq sauce, or whatever your favorite barbecue sauce may be.
- Sugar Free Cola: as a replacement for regular cola in this recipe, I’m using sugar-free cola. It’s available in most markets in the soda aisle. Plus, it is sweetened with stevia, meaning that it has all the flavor of regular cola without the added sugar.

How to Make Fall off the Bone Baby Back Ribs
Prepare the Ribs
- Pat the raw pork ribs with dry paper towel.
- Remove the thin membrane or silver skin (if it’s there) from the back of the rib racks
- Sprinkle bbq dry rub all over the front and back of the ribs, and the sides of the ribs. Allow the ribs to marinate for at least 4 hours (ideally, overnight).
Pressure Cook the Ribs
Place ribs and sugar-free cola to the cooking pot and pressure cook them.
Finish the Ribs
Brush the pork ribs with bbq sauce and use the air fryer or a broiler to char the ribs a bit.
Top Tips & FAQs
- Serve more “loose sauce” for dipping: Fall off the Bone Ribs can’t have too much bbq sauce. I personally, like to spruce my sauce up a bit. The “loose” sauce is basically, ½ cup bbq sauce, 3 tbsp Cola or liquid from the bottom of the pot, and 1 tbsp dry rub. I mix it up and serve it as a dipping sauce.
- Allow the ribs to sit with the dry rub on them: while fall off the bone ribs don’t have to take a long time to cook, they definitely should have time to sit in the spices and bbq dry rub. I generally add the dry rub the night before.
- Best results in a multi-cooker: this recipe uses the pressure cooker to make the rib meat fall off the bone and the air fryer function to get the crisp char that you’d expect from bbq. Though I use a Ninja Foodi, this would also work with the Instant Pot Duo (has an air fryer lid).
Storage & Leftovers
If you have leftovers of these racks of ribs, the best way to store them is in an airtight container for next time (up to 5 days). You can also wrap them up tight in aluminum foil. Additionally, if you have not already, an easy way to store these is by braking them down into individual ribs.
I’m using the high pressure cooker setting to save time.

- 2.5 lbs Pork Ribs, 1 large rack of ribs
- 1/3 cup BBQ Seasoning, click for the recipe

- 1 cup Sugar Free Cola, or chicken broth
Optional: Dipping BBQ Sauce
- 1/2 cup BBQ Sauce, click for my keto recipe
- 3 tbsp Liquid from the Pot, or Sugar-free Cola
- 1 tbsp BBQ Seasoning, click for the recipe
Instructions
Prepare the Ribs
- Remove the thin membrane (if it's there) from the back of the rib racks.
- Make the dry rub by mixing all of the spices above.
- Sprinkle pork dry rub all over the ribs. Allow the ribs to marinate at least 4 hours (ideally, overnight).
Pressure Cooker Directions
- Add the ribs to the pressure cooker pot.
- Pour the sugar-free cola or chicken broth into the bottom of the pot.
- Add the pressure cooker lid and cook on high for 25 minutes.
- Allow the pressure to quick release.
Finish the Ribs
- Brush the tops of the ribs with half of the BBQ sauce.
- For the Ninja Foodi: Air Crisp the ribs (400 degrees) for 10-15 minutes (the longer you keep them there, the crispier they get). For a broiler: broil them in a broiler-safe dish on high for 5 minutes. This step allows the rib tops and edges to char!
- Make loose sauce with remaining bbq sauce. Serve the ribs with remaining loose sauce in a bowl.
