Air fryer garlic parmesan wings are juicy on the inside, but super crispy on the outside, covered in a delicious, buttery homemade wing sauce. They’re a flavor-packed snack or appetizer that only takes about 40 minutes to make!

It’s no secret that I love chicken wings. What’s not to love about moist, tender chicken coated with flavorful seasonings and sauce? These garlic parmesan chicken wings are one of my favorite recipes to make. They only take 40 minutes to make in the air fryer. So much flavor is packed into the meat and the sauce, which is so good that I’ve borrowed it for more recipes, like my air fryer chicken skewers.
As a general rule, I try to avoid deep-frying. And while oven-baked wings can have some of the same crunch, the air fryer is the best of both worlds. You get all the crispiness of a fried wing, with less oil!
Why Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Wings Are the Perfect Appetizer
- Crispy, moreish texture. I put baking powder in the spice rub, which is a trick for extra crispy chicken skin. You’d never know that these wings aren’t deep-fried!
- Minimal prep. This easy wings recipe needs only a few minutes of prep time before the wings are in the air fryer. Make the sauce in the meantime, and just like that, you’re ready to serve.
- Layers of flavor. The spice rub is a simplified version of my poultry seasoning that infuses the chicken with flavor, as does the rich, buttery garlic Parmesan wing sauce.

Ingredients Needed
Here are all the ingredients you need to make these air fryer garlic parmesan wings. Make sure to scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the article to find the exact amounts for each ingredient.
- Chicken wings – Make sure to get wings that are sectioned into drums and flats.
- Sea salt and black pepper – For best results, use freshly-ground black pepper.
- Seasonings – Smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Baking powder – You cannot substitute baking soda with baking powder in this recipe.
- Olive oil – Or your choice of cooking oil.
Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce
- Butter – Make sure to use unsalted butter.
- Grated parmesan cheese – Normally, I’m a stickler for grating the cheese fresh, but pre-grated cheese works fine for this recipe.
- Herbs and spices – Onion powder and garlic powder again, plus black pepper and dried parsley.
- Dried parsley – You can use fresh parsley if you prefer.

How to Make Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings
Here’s how to make garlicky chicken wings in the air fryer in less than an hour. I use a Ninja Foodi air fryer, but the same directions apply to most air fryer models.
- Season the chicken. Remove the wings from the fridge, and pat them dry with a paper towel. Combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, baking powder, salt, and pepper to make the rub, and cover the wings, tossing so they’re well coated.
- Cook the wings. Place the wings in the air fryer basket, drizzle them with the oil, and cook at 400F for 12-15 minutes. Flip the wings over, and cook for another 12-15 minutes.
- Make the sauce. While the wings are cooking, add the melted butter, parmesan cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley, and black pepper to a bowl, and stir to combine.
- Toss the wings. Add the finished wings to the bowl of sauce, and toss to combine, then serve.
Oven Method
If you don’t own an air fryer, you can still enjoy these wings following the directions for my oven-baked garlic parmesan wings. You’ll need to bake the wings at 425ºF for 20-25 minutes per side to get them nice and crispy.

Tips for Crispy Chicken Wings
- Bring the wings to room temperature. If you have the time, remove the wings from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking them. By allowing the wings to reach room temperature before putting them in the air fryer, they’ll stay nice and juicy when they cook.
- Thoroughly dry them. When drying the wings with a paper towel, make sure to do a thorough job. You want to get all of the moisture off the wings. That allows them to get extra crispy.
- Don’t crowd the wings. Make sure to leave space between the wings in the air fryer basket. There needs to be air between the wings for them to get crispy. If you have too many wings to fit in the basket without crowding, then cook the wings in batches.
What to Serve With Garlic Parmesan Wings
I like to balance out the richness of these garlicky Parmesan wings with a side of fresh crudités and a cool and creamy dip, like blue cheese dressing. This low-carb homemade ranch dressing is also a favorite. Here are more of my favorite dishes and finger foods to serve along with these wings:

How to Store and Reheat Leftovers
- Refrigerate. These garlic parmesan wings will last in the fridge for 3 days if you store them in an airtight container.
- Reheat. You can reheat them in a 360ºF air fryer for 6-7 minutes, or in a 350ºF oven for 15-20 minutes.
- Freeze. This recipe is great for freezing. Store the wings in an airtight container, and they’ll last for 3 months. For best results, thaw the wings entirely before reheating. You can also reheat them straight from the freezer, but you’ll need to add a few minutes of cooking time.
