These air fryer garlic parmesan wings are juicy on the inside, but super crispy on the outside. They’re a flavor-packed keto snack that only takes about 40 minutes to make.
It’s no secret that I love chicken wings. What’s not to love about moist, tender chicken with a crunch? And who doesn’t love chicken coated in a flavorful sauce? These air fryer garlic parmesan wings are one of my favorite recipes to make. They only take 40 minutes, and they’re keto-friendly. But so much flavor is packed into the meat and the sauce.
Wings are usually made in a deep fryer or an oven. But deep-fried wings are pretty unhealthy. And oven-baked wings are usually lacking in crispiness. By making these wings in the air fryer, you get all the crispiness of a fried wing, with the health benefits of a wing made in the oven.
Why You’ll Love These Juicy Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Wings
This is one of my go-to keto recipes. Here’s why you’ll love it.
- Crispy. One of the secrets to this recipe is that I put baking powder in the spice rub. Baking powder changes the skin on the chicken and allows it to get crispier. You’d never know that these wings aren’t deep-fried!
- Easy. This is a super easy recipe to make. It only takes a few minutes of prep time, and then the wings are in the air fryer. While the wings are in the fryer, you can make the sauce, which also only takes a few minutes. And just like that, you’ve got a quick and easy keto-friendly chicken meal!
- So much flavor. A fun thing about chicken wings is that you can get flavor from both the meat and the sauce. The spice rub for the chicken is packed with traditional seasonings like garlic and paprika. And then the sauce has amazing flavors like parmesan cheese, parsley, and butter. This recipe has many layers of flavor!
Ingredients Needed
Here are all the ingredients you need to make these air fryer garlic parmesan wings. Make sure to scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the article to find the exact amounts for each ingredient.
For the Wings:
- Chicken wings – Make sure to get wings that are sectioned into drums and flats.
- Sea salt
- Black pepper – For best results, use freshly-ground black pepper.
- Smoked paprika
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Baking powder – You cannot substitute baking soda for baking powder.
- Olive oil
For the Garlic Parmesan Sauce:
- Butter – Make sure to use unsalted butter.
- Grated parmesan cheese – Pre-grated cheese works fine for this recipe.
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Dried parsley – You can use fresh parsley if you prefer.
- Black pepper
How to Make Crispy Keto Wings
Here’s how to make this juicy keto chicken dish. It only takes 40 minutes!
- Dry the chicken. Remove the wings from the fridge, and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Make the rub. Add the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, baking powder, salt, and pepper to a bowl, and stir to combine.
- Season the wings. Cover the wings with the spice rub, and toss until the meat is well coated.
- Cook the wings. Place the wings in the air fryer basket, drizzle them with the oil, and cook at 400F for 12-15 minutes.
- Flip. Flip all of the wings over.
- Finish cooking. Cook the wings in the air fryer for another 12-15 minutes.
- Make the sauce. While the wings are cooking, add the melted butter, parmesan cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley, and black pepper to a bowl, and stir to combine.
- Toss the wings. Add the finished wings to the bowl of sauce, and toss to combine, then serve.
Tips and Tricks
Here are some things to know when making these crispy garlic parmesan wings.
- Bring the wings to room temperature. If you have the time, remove the wings from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking them. By allowing the wings to reach room temperature before putting them in the air fryer, they’ll stay nice and juicy when they cook.
- Thoroughly dry them. When drying the wings with a paper towel, make sure to do a thorough job. You want to get all of the moisture off of the wings. That allows them to get extra crispy.
- Don’t crowd the wings. Make sure to leave space between the wings in the air fryer basket. There needs to be air between the wings in order for them to get crispy. If you have too many wings to fit in the basket without crowding, then cook the wings in batches.
What to Serve Air Fried Chicken With
Since this keto chicken is so rich and decadent, I like to serve it with some vegetables. This will balance out the wings a little bit. Here are some of my favorite dishes to serve along with these wings.
- Sauteed Green Beans
- Air Fryer Green Beans
- Air Fryer Broccoli
- Roasted Air Fryer Cauliflower
- Air Fryer Brussel Sprouts
- Sauteed Asparagus
How to Store and Reheat Leftovers
These wings will last in the fridge for 3 days if you store them in an airtight container. You can reheat them in a 360F air fryer for 6-7 minutes, or in a 350F oven for 15-20 minutes.
Can I Freeze Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Wings?
Yes! This recipe is great for freezing. Store the wings in an airtight container, and they’ll last for 3 months. For best results, thaw the wings entirely before reheating. You can also reheat them straight from the freezer, but you’ll need to add a few minutes of cooking time.

Recommended Equipment
Ingredients
Chicken Wings
- 1.5 lbs Chicken Wings, sectioned into flats and drums
- 1/2 tsp Natural Ancient Sea Salt
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tbsp Baking Powder, baking powder (You cannot swap baking soda in this recipe – I promise that the wings will not taste good if you do)
- 1 tsp Olive Oil
Garlic Parmesan Wings Sauce
- 1/4 cup Butter, melted, unsalted
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan, I use the fresh kind from the refrigerated section of the market. If you're using the unrefrigerated kind, you should use unsalted butter and cut the salt in half.
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Dried Parsley
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
Instructions
For the Wings:
- Remove the chicken wing parts from the refrigerator and pat dry (removing as much moisture as possible helps to have a crispy wing skin).
- Mix the sea salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and baking powder in a small dish or ramekin.
- Sprinkle seasoning mixture on the wings and toss to coat.
- Place wings on a flat layer in the airfryer.
- Cook the chicken at 400 degrees in the air fryer for 12-15 minutes per side.
For the Sauce:
- Mix the all of the ingredients for the Garlic Parmesan sauce by stirring them in a small bowl.
- Toss the wings in the garlic parmesan mixture and serve immediately.

Wingstop, who? This was incredible and will be going into the rotation.

Glad you loved it! Welcome to the regular rotation of deliciousness! 🙂
Andrea says
Just made these wings. Excellent. Thanks so much for the recipe, it’s a keeper.
Dave says
Great recipe, highly recommend! When I cooked the wings in the air fryer, I placed them back in the air fryer after they were coated with the sauce for a few minutes. This made them more crispy and delicious!
Phillip says
Absolutely delicious! I prepared the butter and dry ingredients while the wings cooked and it was difficult getting it to stick to the wings. Next time I’ll try having it warm when I dredge the wings and see if it sticks better.
Honestly, I thought they might be too garlicky with basically the same ingredients in both the dry mix and the wet. I left one wing out and just put Parmesan cheese on it. It was okay but WOW the others were out of this world.
Do not miss making these.
Dr. Davinah's Eats Team says
I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed the wings! It’s a great tip to warm the butter and dry ingredients to help them stick better to the wings. And I completely agree, sometimes the simplest ingredients can make for the most delicious dishes. Thanks for sharing your experience with us and I’m glad you didn’t miss out on making these amazing wings. Enjoy!

My husband devoured these! I just erased every other garlic parmesan chicken wing recipe I had saved on Pinterest to try.

Hot Wings are one of my life’s pleasures. I’ve never owned an air fryer, but we just bought a new gas range with dual ovens and the lower oven has the air fryer option. I use baking power with my seasoning, and I spritz with EVOO spray. I bought a large air fryer screen since I like to cook a lot of them at once. For some reason though I’m not getting the crispy crunch I want, even though I make sure they’re dry before I season them. Is spritzing with EVOO spray stopping them from getting the nice crunch we love? Or maybe air fryer ovens don’t cook the same as air fryers themselves. Thanks for the wonderful recipe to add to my arsenal of hot wings! My fav is injecting with Cajun butter and Louisiana Hot sauce, then dusting with some Tony Chacheres Cajun seasoning just before they go it.

We have made these wings over and over (at least 10 times) and they are perfect every time. We tried lemon pepper (about 1 tsp) in the mix for a change from the parmesan and that was very good as well. Thank you for a great recipie!

Tried these tonight and although I was skeptical (I worried the skin wouldn’t stay crispy once tossed with the sauce), but not only did the skin stay super crispy, they were amazing tasting! We will definitely be making these again. Thanks for a fantastic recipe. Well done!

Did the oven version with the garlic parm sauce and they were incredible! I had three lbs of wings and would have crowded the air fryer. Either way, super simple. Fantadtic texture. I ate 3 servings worth 😂

Adriana says
Can you use frozen chicken wings?
Davinah says
I don’t recommend that because it can cause the chicken to cook unevenly. I prefer to do a quick thaw method by submerging the wings in cold water until they are thawed.
Deanne says
So good! I love it when I can master a take out recipe at home! We’ll be making these again!

Linda G Kier says
Hi what is the backing powder for in this recipe?
Davinah says
It adds to the crispiness of the wing by causing a reaction in the wing skin that allows the skin to rise and crisp without drying out the meat.
Pam says
I have not tried the sauce yet but I bet it is delicious. And I will try it. I have made air fryer wings and they come out fantastic but honestly you don’t need to use the baking powder on these in the air fryer. In the oven yes, I have done them both ways. The air fryer ones with just your seasonings and a little oil and they are great. Try it
Davinah says
I do agree that baking powder is optional, depending on your goal. I find that without the baking powder, they taste more like baked + broiled chicken wings. Even though finishing wings in the broiler results in deliciousness, I was going for a fried chicken vibe! I’m so happy that you found this recipe and enjoyed it. Thanks so much for taking the time to share a review!

I love garlic parmesan wings from Pizza Hut but with a gluten intolerance cross contamination is a concern. I made these wings last night and they were way better than store bought. This was very good! My only complaint was that it was very salty. Next time I make it I’m going to try unsalted butter (which was probably the right thing to do but the recipe didn’t say which) and probably half the amount of salt. It was still very tasty!
Davinah says
Hi Tanya,
This is great feedback and I’ll update the recipe card because as you mentioned, these changes can make a difference. Really appreciate you taking the time to write back! Happy you enjoyed them.

These are AMAZING!!! Wingstop who?? We don’t know her after making these. Seriously though—these are better than the wings you get when you go out to eat. Super easy and simple, and delicious!! I wouldn’t change a thing about this recipe and I will save this to make many more times. The only thing I did different was follow the specific directions for cooking chicken wings with my Ninja Airfryer (and I’m glad I did because they’re all different. I did 390F for 15min, flip, then 8min. Cooked them perfectly). Thank you for this recipe!!
Davinah says
Hi Dayna,
I’m so happy that you enjoyed these! They are definitely one of my favorites. Love that you mixed it up with the Foodi. I got mine last year and couldn’t be happier with it.

How many wings per serving for those macros?
Davinah says
Hi Vanessa,
This will vary based on how big wings are, but I tend to get about 4-5 pieces with that.
Thanks,
Davinah

Just made these, and WOW they came out so good! I’ll admit, I was a bit nervous about the baking powder, but it really did give the chicken a fried chicken taste! Flavors were on point, it was easy to make, and didn’t take very long at all. You really nailed it with this one, a keeper for sure! Thank you!

How do you bake the parmesan ones in the oven? Temp and time? Thank you!
Davinah says
Hi Rachael,
If you want to bake these Garlic Parmesan chicken wings in the oven, then you should use my oven fried chicken wings recipe. After the wings are crisped (about 50 minutes at 425 degrees), then you can toss them in the sauce.
Thanks,
Davinah
